Welcome to the forum. Got a few people around here that will be able to help you out. Hang tight, they may eventually respond. As far what trans you are looking for, it will be NV4500 most likely. Usually found in 3/4 and 1 ton trucks in the 90's I am certain of, but other years or up to how late I am not sure. I'd also imagine its going to take some mods, but I am uncertain of that too since I have never made the swap myself. The New Venture NV4500 has granny gear, then 3 more speeds, 4 gear being 1 to 1, then 5th gear is an OD, and I am wanting to say its .72 OD for some reason.

BTW, I see the K20 in your name, does this mean your 82 is a 4x4. You know if its a 4x4 that changes the whole ball game. Always a good idea, to let the forum know what you are working on as far as year, make, model, series as in 10, 20, 30 and 2 or 4 wd. Even if you do have the K20, which is 3/4 4x4, the NV4500 can still be done I believe, but the adapter for the trans case is likely to set you back some decent amount of change, and I would not call it pocket change.

yes its a 4x4 3/4 ton, sorry i forgot to mention. Thanks so much for the help! ill look up that trans, Is this the trans that was in the manual 6.5s? from the 90s if so i think they are hydro not mechanical clutches. How hard would it be to bold this trans up to a 4bt? someday im looking to 4bt swap the truck.
