Hotrod I had heard that GMC had bigger parts in some areas than Chevy I see now that it was a long time ago. And no that's not why I always buy GMC trucks I just prefer the look of the front grill. Thanks for the info.

Yep, you are right JeemC. Way back then, there was a differance other then the grill and the dash, and front lights etc. I also agree, the GMC also does look better now days. I also like the fabric print better if you go cloth. People think GMC cost more than Chevy, but it doesn't. If you look at a base model Chevy sticker and a GMC sticker, the GMC sticker is higher by several hundred dollars. All because of standard equipment. Example Base is Chev is base Chev, add Smooth ride Suspension that is base on GMC, add tow package, that is base on GMC, add this feature and that feature, and you end up with the same exact price. We did in 02 when I worked at a GMC/Pontiac dealer, and the same company Chevy dealer was right next door, so I sold all Chevy, GMC and Pontiacs on the 2 lots. I got paid better to sell GMC so when my customers wanted me to step down to the Chevy to save $800, I showed them where it was at and they agreed, they are getting something for the money and did like the appearance better, so they bougth GMC. The crud you hear that GMC is better sound insulated than a Chev or GMC is a 4 bolt main and Chev is not. All BS. Not true. Same/Same. Now what is true, if you get base model Chev or GMC either one, they do not have much sound proof. You step up to the nice packages, they do have some more sound proof added, but its usually in the interior, not the chassis of the truck. Don't anyone ever be fooled that GMC is better or in the same, that GMC is a rip off. Not true. IF you compare apples to apples, feature for feature, they are the same and priced the same, just that the GMC has more base model equipment than the Chev, and that is why the price is higher.

Hotrod I have never paid sticker price for any car/truck that I have bought I even had the Saturn dealership drop the price when my nephew bought a car from them all I tell them if you won't get to the price that I want I can go anywhere to buy one. Plus I never buy one on the first day that I go see a new ride. Also hotrod the man that I heard about that some parts were more HD then Chevy was a old man that worked at a GMC dealership for many.. years.

Oh gosh NO. NEVER EVER pay sticker price. I never have, never will. I could not afford to buy new Z-71's, Avalanches, Expeditions, Lariats, every year if I paid sticker. I did however buy them fully loaded up, leather, butt warmers, tow packages etc. The more options you have in them, the more you can get them off the price. I hated buying cars, cuz I knew there was not enough mark up in them for me to get $10K or better off the MSRP, and I knew once I bought it, I'd have it awhile cuz a car does NOT hold its value and you are so hooked up in the thing, you have no choice but to keep a few years. The last 04 Crew Cab, loaded leather, with all bells and whisltes, I got $16K off MSRP. I am just saying, if you compared stickers, the GMC and Chevrolets are identically priced. Just the GMC has the better stuff as STANDARD Equipment. To get the same in a Chev. you have to upgrade it as an option. Example, Standard front suspension to a GMC is Chevy Heavy Duty upgrade OPTION. So if you did not get the HEAVY DUTY OPTION in the Chevy, the GMC base truck is tougher. Your old guy told you right.

Hotrod your a smart buyer. Some people pay sticker price or they get into a used truck/car and the interest rates are higher that's how the salesmen make there money. I was once getting the wife a new car and there was some mexican people there and the salesman wanted to put them in a used car I told them don't get a used one buy a new one and I explained why and the salesman got pissed off so they went to another dealership I was super glad.

Been there done that too. I was getting a good deal on used this 1 time. Then, whoa Nelly, just before I signed up, I walked over to new. Being that I got 1.9 Rate on the new, and my rate on used was gonna be 6.9, it was cheaper to pay more money for the new truck and have Zero miles and a full warranty. All a salesman ever made off of me was $100 mini a check by his name to add a unit to his name for the month. And I told them that right up front first thing. They walk introduce themselves, I ask if they are willing to take a mini, cuz thats all they are getting and if they did not want a mini, then get me another salesman. I have also walked in before and asked the salesmen, how long you been selling cars? 12 years, next one 2 years, next one 4 years, next one, not very long. How long is not very long? Well actually this is my first week. OK, come on Newbie. I am for the underdog, so lets get you a unit for the month. I am buying a new truck today, and you are about to learn a whole lotta things about selling trucks today, but I am warning you first. It'll be a mini, but it'll be worth all the things I will teach you, that your sales manager never will. By the time I was done, they agreed, got an education like no other. Over half the time, I was recruited to sell for the dealer. One time I did take them up on the offer. I couldn't do it. The **** they wanted me to do and say, was unreal. I did it for a year. I would not have lasted that long, but I had a Conversion Van customer that ordered a Van. a $25,000 gross profit, which made me a $2500 paycheck on the one sale. It took 3 months to build the van. Being we did not get paid until the vehicle delivered. I was not leaving that kind of check on the table for the dealer. So I stayed until I delivered that van, and then got the paycheck. I quit the day I got the paycheck. It was hard staying that last 3 months, but that one sale made me a double paycheck that pay period.
