Also the gap I know the truck says whatever it says but has anyone ever played around with the gap to see?? I found that my 305 ran well at .030 or was it .035 one or the other but it was not the factory setting.

Now for the Tstat you say 195 is that year specific or a good rule of thumb for all 350s TBIs
195 should be good for just about all 5.0 or 5.7's from the early 90's up to about '04 as far as I know, but you might still want to look it up before you change one.

Well when I got mine over 50k ago the guy at NAPA said it takes 180 so that is what is in it maybe that is why my temp gauge reads so low??? Could have something to do with it running lean too????

I agree with Brad and Bernie on this one. I'd get the 195 thermostat. Just my own rule of thumb and noone has to agree, but I ifs a computer comtrolled vehicle, I always go 195. If its not, no not snot. IF ITS NOT, then I use 180 stat. The temp running as 195 is very important if the vehicle is designed to do so. The ECM makes decisions based on temp too, so if you are not letting it get to 190 which a 195 stat will do, the ECM will not give maximum power and best mpg signals to adjustments, like timing and A/F mixture. In the older computer GM cars, before OBD 1, Like CCC (Computer Command Control) or C4 (Computer Controlled Catalytic Converter), it would not even go into closed loop operation and start functioning properly until 185 degrees, so it kept everything rich, bogged down, no timiing advnace, very diry emissions etc.

Neither depending on what you mean. I have no performance chip and I have no performance parts other than K&N filter which in my opinion is not really performance just sounds good.

Gee, maybe if we all chip in we can get you the thermostat and a gasket too!

(Just funnin with ya... None of us here have that kind of money - you'll have to settle for a virtual beer.)

But, you can always tell the wife it will improve your mileage and save money in the long run.

Good idea except she doesn't buy anything I tell even if it is true. But I will take that virtual beer for sure. Funny she says I don't live in reality anyway, so. . .

I noticed you made the correction with "doesn't". I new what you meant. I always for the NOT also. It does not take a Dr. Phil by that statement above to tell you were married. How long together befroe married or total together?
