rear glass shattered

I was just driving down the interstate and heard a loud pop.I tapped the breaks, gave it a little gas,and shook the wheel side to side and all seemed well.Stopped at a store and my backglass was shattered. The only thing holding it in was the tint.No bullet holes or big chips missing just shattered saftey glass.I thought maybe I ran over a rock that got slung up into the unerside of the truck but i guess the pop was my glass breakin.

Anybody ever have this happen or know how it does.thanks

Wind surge through open window ?
Bird through open window ?
Got me, that's weird for back glass.
Not a newer install that got tweaked in frame ?

In my neighborhood it's usually caused by driving through after 11PM with your stereo blasting too loud... and a match grade pellet rifle... Or so I hear...

Since you don't live anywhere near me I guess we can rule that out.

Sometimes glass like that can be under stress for years, right near the breaking point but never quite getting there, then "pop". I saw it happen to my own car once. A 15 year old Plymouth with all original glass. It was a true "beater" and I treated it rougher than any truck I ever owned and never had any glass break. Then one night, sitting down by the beach, I hit the roof with a Frisbee and the whole back window shattered.

You never know what will do it.

Maybe it was that bad stereo in the truck with your high pitch singing. LOL

I agree, quit the singing while you're driving. Lucky it wasn't the windshield.

No new install. As far as I know it was the oem glass. No dead birds or bats in the cab.It was cold/raining and I had the heat on is all I can think.Guess I`ll have to stop the singing.

I think that could be it the whole heat and cold. and maybe something hit it. My first thought was some kid screwing around with a pellet gun on an overpass??? I have heard of that before or driving behind you.

Find someone with a truck like yours and say these exact words listen carefully works all the time.
" Look up there a flying pink Elephant."
Then hit them in the back of the head and knock them out and then you have all the time to take their glass.
