frame change-over

I have a 85 chevy 3/4 ton 2 wheel drive and a friend has an 85 4-wheel drive rolling chassis from a 3/4 ton suburban. would my truck body fit or will the mounts be different as a suburban?

I would say the mounts are going to be different I think they are different on the 88-98 trucks and burbs but the guy to talk to about this would be hotrodPC he's got a lot of those trucks

Thought about buying a newer truck, but I love this body style.
You swapped the engne, trans, and rear end.
Guess the frame was the only thing left.

Means you were serious about loving the body style.
And only the body style.

SO your question is answered, NO the frame swap will not work. But, I just wonder how hard it would be get the front end parts off the burb and onto the truck. Seems to me what your real question is, Can you convert your 2wd truck to 4wd truck? That has been done too. But it takes some fabbing to do. Really not worth it since there are 4wd rolling chassis around. I assme the burb must be in bad shape? I would actually prefer a 4wd burb over a pick up. I recently bought a 85 K10 rolling chassis for $200 with Title. Complete truck but missing the trans, tcase, front driveshaft and motor. Everything else is there. So far I have acquired a core trans and a good NP208. I would prefer a NP 205, but for $50 on this tcase, I was not passing it up. You will not find a 205 for $50.

My 86 burb wheelbase is roughly 1 inch longer than my 66 chevy pickup by tape measure. I haven't looked up the wheelbase for each one so I dont know the specs. I'm going tomorrow to pick up a 76 1 ton chevy van for the full floater to replace the semi floater. I'm going to make this work. The frame in the pic is an 86 3/4 ton 4x4 burb so maybe someone could post a pic of a truck frame for comparison???

Hope this helps!

Hey Semo, nice to see you back. I haven't seen you around in awhile. You have an interesting project working there, I hope it works out. I think you ought to start a thread from beggining to end on this one. I am sure you know its going to be challenging. But I bet it can be done. Show us how its done Semo !!!

Hello Hotrod! I will post a build thread. I got tired of looking for a 60-66 4x4 so i'll build one. Found new fenders, bed, and hood for the 66 so the sheetmetal will be pretty solid. I'll get some pics posted tomorrow of what I have collected so far. I have also acquired a nice running, rusty, ugly 78 gmc 3/4 ton 2wd and a 77 sb 4x4 since last posts.
