'07 Silverado Turn Signal Flasher Problem - Dealer Disagrees

I have a 2007 Silverado Crew Cab, New Body Style. My turn signal flasher unit behaves strangely in the momentary position. If I hold the switch to the left flasher (without actually engaging the turn signal switch), the signal flashes continuously until I release the lever. When I do the same on the right signal, it flashes 3 times and then it quits. The dealer mechanics looked at it twice and said it's normal....they actually told me that was not how the switch was supposed to be used. So in page 215 of the owner's manual it says that the switch can be used one of three ways:
1) Full engagement of the switch which returns it to its normal position after the steering wheel rotates
2) Momentary tap where you nudge the switch and it flashes 3 times
3) Hold the switch without actually engaging the spring return mechanism and it maintains the flasher until released (I use this for lane changing).

My problem is with option (3) above. So I am going back to the dealer tomorrow with the owner's manual in hand. At first I thought it was the turn signal relay, but some research on the net showed that it is all controlled off the BCM.

Any opinions? Thanks.

I think you have the right idea, if they don't agree, call gm customer service while you are still there, or ask to see the service manager and call if he won't
