Black Truck is on a distinguished road
ABS Light turns off and on (92 Suburban)

The ABS light comes on and off when driving. Where do I start to correct this problem? Thanks for all the help so far.

Best thing is to get it scanned by a shop. A normal code reader can't pull ABS codes and you can spin yourself in circles trying to figure it out without a scan.

Some guys who know the truck more might chime in with likely causes but I would still suggest you get it scanned or it could turn into an expensive repair quickly.

If you mean that the light flashes all the time my guess would be that you have a bad fuse.

Heh oh yeah, if that's the case check your fuses first but if it stays on and then off for a good duration I would scan it.

The problem is most likely caused by one of four things a blow fuse a faulty connection at the ABS controller a faulty connection at one of the wheel speed sensor connections or a faulty wheel speed sensor. Check the fuses first in none are blow then check and clean the connection at ABS controller disconnect battery first then pull ABS controller connection and clean. then check and clean wheel speed sensor connections the connections for these are located on upper a arm or the mounted to backing plate if you have done all this a still have a problem with ABS light you will need to get it scanned to see if you have a faulty wheel speed sensor. do you know if this truck has the 4 wheel abs or not?

if 4 wheel ABS, you will have a set of wires going to each hub assembly. all 4 hubs, i mean. if only on the back and not the front, than you have rwabs or 2 wheel ABS.

I assumed it was the RWAL system, so a bad fuse.

my ranger would do that when the brake fluid level got low, oddly enough... make sure your reservoir is full.. if its not, refill it and check for leaks. im not sure why a low level made the abs light come on, but it dont cost ya nothin to check it...
