| could it be a case of overtightening? i overtightened the belt on my toyota once and it squealed worse than when it was loose.just a suggestion.

| Depending on the vehicle they can come with a manual belt tensioner or an automatic (spring loaded) belt tensioner. I have no idea which your vehicle has but if proper tension isn't present squealing will occur. Do you know if you have a automatic tensioner or do you have to wrench on a bolt to get the belt to tighten up??

| That doesn't sound good... You should be able to move it easier than that, simply using a wrench.

| Sounds like you got the automatic tensioner then, do you notice this moving back and forth as the engine is running? A loose or weak tensioner in this case could lead to this sound.

| yea its doing it again and its a brand new tensioner. it wiggles a little again. what could be causing this? it cant be the tensioner it has to be something else causing the tensioner to fault? |
