    4L60-E/4L65-E Transmission Diagram

    Here is a poster pic of a 4L60-E/4L65-E and then broke down pics of each section of the transmission.

    awesome find hotrodpc. only thing missing in the parts list that goes with the pics. the numbers mean nothing to someone that doesnt know. such as myself.

    Awesome pics!!! I want to know for everyone else what makes the E different from just the 4L60? Is it in the valve body?

    Now a guestion for me what is the 4L65? Is that the replacement for the 4L60?

    4l60e is electronically controlled. the 4l65e is different from the 4l60e mostly noticeable by the 5 at the end. the 65 is slightly upgraded from the 60. bit heavier input shaft and couple of other things.

    and the 65 usually has the removable bell housing too. 700r4 and 4L60 are the same expained by mud. That is just where the model transitioned just like a Turbo 400 is now aka 3L80. The E as brad says is electronically controlled, so it does not have a cable or modulator to control shift points. It used sensors from the ecm and then has solenoids A&B in the trans that tells it when to shift, and lock up converter etc. Very similar, but every differant too. Many hard parts of the 4L60-E will fit 4L60 and 700r4 and many are actually recommended as to upgrade the 700r4/4L60 to be stronger.

    So your saying by the time they started producing the 60e the hard parts were actually beefer than the predececor 700r4? So more than just the introduction of electronic control was also the more durable parts. No other design changes?
