    1985 Chevy front end conversion??

I need to know what years of Chevy truck can swap the grill, headlights, etc. with a 1985 truck. Any help would be appreciated.

afaik the parts are interchangeable for the same body styles, 73 to 80. 81 to 87. The cut off was when they changed from having a cowl to a full length hood. I have managed to put a new style front end (86) on an older truck (78) but it was a pain.. the major differences will be if you have single or dual headlights. are the turn signals in the bumper or in the grill etc.

Yep, you are looking for 81 to 87 parts to bolt right onto yours as oldmech says. The year differances were 81 and 82 had the turn signals in the front bumper, 83 and later the turn signals were back in the grill where they belong. I always thought it would be cool to have the turn signals in the grill, but have an 81 or 82 bumper and put fog lights in the bumper. As far as single or double headlights, that depended on the trim level. Silverado had 4 headlights, most others like Custom Deluxe or Scottsdale had single headlights.

hey idk if this is what your asking but i once swapped the core support from an 86 into a 78 and then you can use the newer style front end because it has all the corect installments for the double headlights and grill and so forth. actually gave my 78 a cool custom look. but you have to find a good shape coresupport.

But you still had the 73-80 fenders though, and the single piece hood that would buckle. I believe he is talking about fenders, hood and all swap. I like the 81-87 better myself and no hood buckle problem either since the cowl and hood are seperate pieces.

No need to apologize, still great info. So you're saying its possible to run a 81-87 truck grill and headlights, and also the 88-91 Blazer and Suburban headlights in a 73-80 front end. Still nice to know.
