Need help quick!

i was coming back from town tonight and as i was leaving my truck started making a real loud bang. kind of like the noise and the feel of when your tailgate slams down. it felt like the whole driveline moved back or something when it does it. in the past, i have felt what feels like the driveshaft squeak and then it feels like it moves back a little bit or something. i have no idea what it could be. it sounds to me like it is coming from the rear axle, but i could be wrong and it doesn't do it when the truck is shifting, it just does it randomly, usually while i'm picking up speed. anyone know what this could be? please help. its my only truck so if something major goes wrong im kinda screwed. thanks.

Well to be sounds like it is in the axle. Could be bearings gone bad. Can you aford to pull the cover and see what the fluid looks like and the parts.

Better yet put it up on stands and put it in gear and listen along where you hear the sound then try to pin point if it is the diff or the trans.

Maybe check the Trans mount and u-bolts to the rearend. Or place your truck on jack stands so you can figure it out.

the u-joints are new and the trans. mount is a good possibility. if i have to pull the diff. cover off then i have to. ill check the non-internal stuff first. i hope its just something small because it sounds bad. its def. not u-joints because it bangs hard. if the trans. mount was loose would it still do it randomly?

i had problem once that kind of sounds like yours. i could be driving and truck would jerk especially in overdrive. thought i had drive train problem. come to find out i had moisture in my dizzy cap. would run good one minute and then it would start jerking and bumping and you could hear the drive shaft clanging when it would do this. just an experience i had. ended up being a cheap repair. by the way, what year model is that truck? i may be way off base if you have coil packs.
