    4l80e ??

The 4L60 in my sister-n-laws (actually borrowed from her dad) '94 K1500 burnt up, the truck has 250k on it but they want me to fix it....

it has a 350 tbi motor that I'm attempting to replace on the cheap,
    hopefully something with under 100k?

I just picked up what I believe is a 4L80E from a '95 chevy that got parted out a couple years ago

the tag on the side reads:

    11DL P 6
    92-175 8458
    Hydramatic
    8680581 4

what can you tell me about the id of this trans?

what would I need to change in order to put it in the '94 K1500
    are the sensors different?
    what about the crossmember?

crossmember will need to be relocated as the 80e is longer, drive shaft shortened and a TCM to control the trans as this will be going in a truck that currently uses a detent cable to control shifts.

First year of production, 1991, is by itself. 1992-1996 interchange, and 1997-Present interchange.

Early models used 1 VSS in the rear of the transmission. Then they switched to VSS and ISS (vehichle speed sensor, Input shaft speed sensor). They also made a change in 97 with the cooler lines.

Early models had the cooling lines on top of each other, as where later years they moved 1 line to the rear of the transmission. They did this for better cooling of the rear of the transmission.

    Hope that helps

Oh your truck has a 4L60E in it presently I missed that.
I just did a write up on the 4L60E-4L80E swap. Do a search on here and you will find it. But it is pretty simple.

If the truck is a 94 then it is a 4l60E which does not have a cable. The 60E started in 93

    93-94 interchange
95 first year of PWM does not interchange with any of them

thanks just read that write up, more than I have time to mess with...
    so I guess I'm looking for a 4L60E & a 350 tbi

got a local guy that will rebuild my 4L60E + new torque converter for $850
[+ he said he's knock a little off for giving him the 4L80E + transfer case]

I was hoping to find a wrecked truck to get the parts from....

he's getting the better end of the deal. i can get a bench build around here for $650 out the door. if that 80e and t-case is any good, you're looking at a $1200 rebuild.

the 4L80E has been sitting in the dirt for 2-3 year (but cover/wrapped in remnant of a crappy blue tarp) anyway it would need to be gone through anyway, I picked it up with the t-case still attached for $150, the rebuilt guy said he would give me $250 off the rebuild on the 4L60E for it.

So i figure that's $100 off, so now that's $750, for a local rebuild with a 3 year warranty, if he makes $$ on the 4L80E so be it he's a good guy & busts his *** to try to help out whenever he can...

It sounds like you have your mind made up.
I have seen the 80E cores sell for 400-600 bux (rebuidable cores)
