Wiper Motor problems

I have a 97 Chevy 1500. If it rains the wipers work erratically, won't shut off and the washer pump doesn't work at all anymore. Any idea what is it that I need to replace.

do you mean the module or is it in the fuse box? cuz my 98 is doing it too

just so you guys know there was a recall for that problem with the wiper motors.chevy replaced my wiper motor for free.

some dealers will,most dealers won't,if they don't the circuit board is located on the wiper motor

there was a recall for wiper probs for 96-98 and some 95s. If you are cheap and handy or not covered by recall, here's an idea. Bad circuit boards were the common problem and the reason was bad soldering that you could see by eye or cheap mag glass. just resolder the breaks or "cold" solder(bad job of soldering) points and make sure to seal box against water coming in. This caused wiper to run whenever, not at all, or park (stop) where ever they wanted. For some ealier years the boards can be hard to get but are good match with wiring if replaced as a set with motor. I think you need a t20 torx . I'll add some pixs if I can find them. Can't warranty the info but hope it helps...
