1988 chevy k1500

Hello everyone
My first time posting on this forum. I'm thinking of buying an 88 chevy K1500. It's a pretty basic truck with a four speed manual tranny, 5.7 motor, no power windows or locks, regular cab with an eight foot box. It does have air and cruise and a sliding rear window. The truck has 189,000 miles on it with a few dents and rusted out cab corners. The box sides are also real rested, even rusted through in spots. I wasn't able to start it or even take it for a ride tonight because the battery was dead but I'm going back tomorrow to jump start it. The guy is asking 1200 dollars for the truck. My question is do you guys think this truck would be worth i?. I'm thinking of asking him to take 800 dollars for it.

If it runs and sounds good, I say buy it. I just got my 3rd truck the other day. A 1980 Scottsdale, we got it for just 900$. It's the best truck i've had so far, like with your truck, it just needs bodywork.

i bought my 1989 chevy silveraldo 5.7 loaded short box for $1100 but it also had rusted cab corners but hardly any dents maby 10 small ones the paints great and runs great 116000 miles i think $800 very fair but its up to you. good luck

Sounds a little high for the truck you are describing. Alot depends on your location. Trucks are worth more in some areas. But still sounds too high to me. Try to talk him down. Show him $800 cash and if he doesnt accept it walk away , He will probally catch you before you leave. The trick is to say All I have is 800 and show the cash. Then it doesnt give them a bargaining chip to talk you up. If you do decide to give him a little more to get the truck simple leave for about 10 min and return. Makes it look like you went to an ATM.
