2003 Silverado 1500HD Brake Rotors

I have a 1500HD Crewcab 4x4 with the QuadraSteer and with only 28K I need to replace all 4 rotors and pads.. The service manager told me ther were pits in the metal due to not driving it enough... I took off one ot the rear rotors and look at the inside of it, I couldn't believe it!! It was like they wre metal to metal for a month... and the pads are only 1/3 worn.. GM won't replace the rotors unless the dealer says they are defective.. I don't know anyone could say the weren't!

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Have a couple mechanics look at em and they can contact for warranty. GM should warranty them....how dumb! I know that payin out of your pocket is gonna hurt if that's what it comes down to

No company warrantys wear parts. They'd go bankrupt. Although you definitely have something wrong.

Id take it for a 2nd opinion. You also may get it done cheaper outside a dealer...they're usually more expensive unless you're getting warranty work

Kragens/Checkers/Shucks, Auto Zone, Napa, Monument, Pep Boys, it's a limited warranty but it helps

I was able to get GM to replace the frt rotors and pads but not the rear... I am filing a complaint with the BBB and we'll see what happens.. The truck is still sitting at the dealer until I get an acceptable answer. I realize wear parts are not covered and would have even thought about this is I had higher mileage.. The point being, GM should stand behind parts that are defective.. And these are defective... I don't expect GM or any other dealer to replace wear items but this is not normal.. The metal on the rotors was delaminating/rusting from the inside... that is just bad metal, forging etc.

Awsome that you got the fronts taken care of, and if you find the right manager you can get them to do the rears. Just tell them that you're soo disappointed in their products and thought they'd have better customer service..just the whole guilt trip thing, sometimes that works

Good luck!!

Never heard of half of those except for Napa, Pep Boys and Auto Zone. Those are the only ones here in upstate NY.

I was talking more dealerships and stuff not warrantying. But thats interesting that those places do. Partial anyway....

Glad you got at least some done. Keep pushing and hold your ground. They'll get sick of you eventually and do whatever to get rid of ya lol. (thats a good thing) That is garbage though...seriously.
