| 1996 Chev PU 4x4 1/2 ton rear brakes question My '96 Chev 1/2 ton has 135,000 miles on it. Problem is that after almost 135k miles, and 10 years, I have used only about half of the brake shoe lining. Yet, I have gone through about 5 to 6 sets of front pads, turing the rotors twice, and finally replacing the rotors last time. WHAT can I do to get the rear brake system to work harder? There has to be a way to correct this. I have a friend with the same year truck - just different color - and he sings the same song. Identical story. Does anyone know what's wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Midnightmagic |

| I had a 97 2wd ext cab 350 short bed, same thing I changed the front never touched the back and it had 130,000 when i sold it. I'm pretty sure that you cannot change that. The proportioning valves on those are set from the factory and i don't think they are adjustable cause of the ABS. I could be wrong though. You might be able to find an aftermarket one though.
