need help with 99 silverado won't start

well i'm new here, and i have a 99 silverado with the 5.3 liter. used to be a ford fan but since i got this truck 2 yrs ago i'm hooked until today! about a month ago i noticed that sometimes when i shifted to park and turned off the truck that the next time i tried to start it, it wouldn't. i had plenty of power but no sound from starter just a clicking in the fuse box from a module under the hood. after 10 sometimes 20 trys it would start. today it finally went belly up. i've tried all day long and nothing. a friend told me its probablly the computer(god i hope not). i was hoping something a bit simpler, like a relay. has anyone had this problem or heard of it, and does anyone know what it cost to replace the computer on this truck? my biggest issue is that the dealership here is like almost 2 weeks out to get it in. any help would be great

to me its sounds like the P.R.N.D.L. (neutral safety switch) switch on the transmission. It could just be outta alignment. They are very tempermental and if it is off a hair it will not start. Try putting it in neutral and see if it still causes the same problem.
