| Wheels fitment problem Okay, I have another problem. I know, I'm coming here with problems alot. I've had this truck a little while, but haven't started doing all this stuff and working on it like I have been lately. Also, almost every time, someone has a solution. So here it is. On my s-10 with the 350, up front for street tires are 245/45/17 and 7.5 wide i believe? No fender wells obviously, but I planned on scrappin those anyway. The wheels are American Racing Torque Thrust II wheels. On the front, they look good and fit well. I love these wheels. But when I bought them, I also purchased the rear ones. They are 17" but are 9.5 wide. The guy said they would work. But when I mounted the 275/55 on them today, and tried to put them on they hit the frame. I could try to sell them, but I might not get my full money, simply because they've got tires on them, and they've been messed with. They dont stick out very far, so I was really wanting to stick with them. Does anyone have any suggestions. I've really been looking at spacers, do u guys think that would work? I can always sell these and go down a size in width, but if I can, I want to stick with these. Suggestions please! |

| Ok, first of all don't apoloigze for comin to the board with problems. That's what we're here for Second, is it the wheel or tire hitting your frame? If it's only the tire you can downsize on the tire...as far as the wheel, you can do a shackle flip in the rear and lift it

| your best bet would be trying to get the right width with the correct offset. you might be able to trade those in or maybe spend a few bucks for the difference but to me it is worth it.

| I think it might be the wheel. I mean only the tire is contacting, but the wheel is too wide. Also, when the lowering kit was being installed, a rear bracket broke, so there is no rear shocks. I havent had it off a jack with the rear wheel on, so I dont even know if the wheel and tire fit under the wheel well yet. But as for this problem, no even if i downsize the tire, I dont think ti will fit. So will you give me a better explanation on what this shackle thing is. I have never heard of it. Also, do you not like the spacer idea? |

| I"m not sure what you mean by a spacer idea...do you mean a lift kit for the rear? A shackle flip is where your rear leafs connect, there is a shackle and if you flip it so that it goes down instead of up towards the bed, it gives you a bit of a lift. Very easy process

| No, thats not what I meant by a spacer idea. What I meant was making it so the wheel comes out from the frame a little bit. Right now, even when the wheel was slid on all the way, the lugs barely had any bolt to thread onto. But I found this site www.ezaccessory.com. Look at those and tell me what you think. The thickness of them is more than wat is on my truck right now. Also, the bolts are longer, so I would have more room to thread the lugs on. Would that push my wheels far enough out to make it work? |

| Wheel hub spacers may give you the room you need. I think they range up to 2". They just mount to the existing wheel studs at the face of the hub, and have studs of their own to mount the tire. However, they are usually machined aluminum and may not hold up to the stress of high horsepower. |

| yea linuxman, i agree with you. I know exactly what you're talking about. You are correct they go up to 2" which is probably what I need. They are on that site I put on one of my replies. I did not even think about them not holding up to high horsepower. But I think i might get them anyway. Because my wheel setup is only going to be like this for a little while. Once its running, it is probably going to a shop, and getting tubbed, and a shortened rearend, and all that, so this is probably very temporary. |
