6- cylinder exhaust

hey yall, does anyone know what exhaust setup, if any would sound good on a 4.3L V6? i dont want it to sound sissy, i know that may be an oxy-moron with a 6 cylinder..... but with gas prices the way they are, and me bein 17 and havin to pay my own gas bill, i just cant keep fillin the tank for the 350 on my 99' suburban. so i'll prolly have to down grade to a 4.3L silverado or sumthin. any advice on that exhaust would be grateful.....

Go with a 40 series Delta Force Flowmaster...I had one on my 2.2, my 4.0, 360, and now my 2.6 and they all sound great, but you gotta have intake to go with it so it doesn't sound sissy like you said. I usually run a K&N intake and Flowmaster muffler(s)

I have a 1997 GMC 4.3 liter V6 engine. I only get about 15 mpg in town. Thats not to good and especially when it just had a tune up. I personally would keep the your engine because my truck is a little slugish when you step on the accelerator. It only has about 180 hp. I would have rather gotten a V8, but my father wanted to save on gas. We are regreting it, but the truck gets me from point A to point B. It gets the job done. Sorry I haven't been here for a while. My computer has been on the fritz and I finally got it fix today after finding the problem. Hope I haven't missed much.

Beaver you wanna check the flow through your radiator. I had a 4.3 in my s-10 I had a couple years back and it was extremely sluggish, got about 16 mpg, and I flushed the radiator and cleaned the part where the air flows through, and it made a difference. I dunno just an idea....

Radiator flush to cure sluggishness? Now I am really confused. I think your heart is in the right place trying to heklp and all, but I dont think this has alot to do with sliggishness. As for the exhaust, leave it stock. While the 4.3 is a great little motor. It is an economizer, not a hot rod and a v6 with a loud exhaust is just plain wrong. Keep it quite and keep em guessing. The only reason to sound off with an exhaust system is to let everyone know you have some ponies, If you aint got them, keep quiet and make em wonder.

Whatever try it or not but I'll tell ya, when yer front of yer radiator is clogged up with leaves and mud and what not, it can't take in air and assist in the cooling process. Like I said, been there done that

I aint buying it. I have been a mechanic for oh about 15 years. Got certified on diesel in high school, got my ASE when I was in the marines working as w heavy equiptment mechanic, and now I have my airframe and power plant license to wrench on aircraft. A clogged radiator will cause overheating, but not directly cause a sliggish motor. So no, you havent been there done that. Try again. Not trying to be rude, but if you dont have any realistic suggestions to help out just say so. Dont have him change a tire to cure an engine knock. Cmon

I can care less how long you've been a mechanic, all I'm sayin is that has had made an effect for me before. I know what I do to my vehicles and I know the differences it makes. Just cuz I'm female doesn't mean I'm stupid

No being a female doesnt necessarily mean you are stupid..Nor did I imply that, you did., but you are barking up the wrong tree here. Radiator has as much affect on a sluggish engine ad windshield wipers have on a broken u joint.

OK boys and girls.... opinions are opinions... we dont need a thread ruined over whether somebody believes somebody's had a problem with something or not.
Take it to PMs if you feel the need for it to continue please.
