| I have a few question the first being my speedo is not working right the needle moves but is off and then stick in spots I think i need to replace the cable so how do I access the speedo to get the cable attached? Secondaly I want to replace the speaker in the front dash and eventually install a CD player/radio and connect it to the existing antenna how can I access the speaker/remove the dash cover to get to the speaker? Its on a 78' Chevy k10 Scottsdale. |

| in order to access the the speakers you have to first remove the little plastic plate right under your steering column which is held on by 4 screws, next the instrument cluster which is held on by 6 or so screws, after that you have to remove 4 or so screws on the passenger side where the metal and vinyl dash meet, ummm i know i'm forgetting something, but i can't think of what, anyways that should get you darn close to the speakers, sorry if that wasn't written to where you can understand it.....i'm not too good at that haha

| on the 78 you might be able to just reach up there behind the cluster from under the dash and get to the speedo cable, it's actualy pretty open. as for the speaker Itstali is right, take the cluster cover off, I don't think you have to remove the gauge cluster itself, but there are 3 or 4 screws behind the cover (I think, been along time since i've had mine apart), and along the passanger side where the dash pad meets the dash there are 4 screws i believe. Take them out and pull the dash back towards you and it'll pop out allowing access to the center speaker.

| You can always put a dash pad cover over yours, a new bezel, DakotaDigitals, and go first class. They also make the same kind of covers for the doors as well although the aftermarket equivalent parts are not bad. But you'll need a kit to get digital output from your older tranny. Kind of a little more expensive than a new cable though. |
