I could'nt tell you, it depends on the sensor and the the vehicle you are buying it for, If a sensor is even the problem, I dont know. The best way to find out what exactly the problem is is to take it somewhere where they have diognostic equipment to check it with. Only then will you know for sure.

Does the check engine light ever come on at all, normally the computer will pick up problems with electronic's and then the engine light will come on. If this hapens the computer stores a code so when a mechanic plugs in his diognostic equipment it will tell him by that code what to look for.

There may still not be anything wrong with it, if you have a louder custom exhust this will make it stand out more and make it sound like it's reving higher than it really is.

If you have any doubts though have it checked by a good mechanic.

Do you have an auto zone handy, Most auto parts stores today have a code scanner. Just have em plug it in and walla, Option #2 even better, purchase the chilton manual (about 20 bucks) from your local oarts store and it will have a diagnostic section which cobers retrieving codes without a scanner, Then you will have a book that will come in handy and give component location as well. good luck

No codes or service light has ever come on. I may have to visit the local auto parts store.

Light doesnt necessarily have to come on. I have found quite a few phantom codes stored by checking this. The book will also give you diagnostic check for each electrical component. You will need a good voltmeter to check them. Another good investment

Not really. A chilton I think is easier to follow than a haynes though

well, i went to two auto parts stores and they wouldn't scan my truck. they told me if there isn't a check engine light there won't be a code. i told them "doesn't it store the code regardless?" they said "no." they mentioned that it could be one or both the IAT or throttle sensors. the four stores i went to also have the haynes manuals only. i browsed the manual quickly and noticed that the book only mentioned the 350, not the 454. should i change the two sensors (one at a time) and hope for the best? they told me the parts aren't that expensive and easy to install. who sells the chilton manual? should i keep trying other stores?

Buy the manual and do the electrical checks described to identify the culprit. No use in throwing parts at it. And yes your codes are stored until they are cleared.
