the fuel pump will run for 2 seconds without any oil pressure on the sender but when the cam sensor sends a refrence signal to the ecm and lets it know its running there must be oil pressure at the sender at this point or the ecm will turn fuel pump off. On most gm products with 3 wire oil senders once engine is running you should be able to remove the fuel pump relay and engine should remain running if oil sender is functioning. Also ecm has to recieve a cam signal witin 2 seconds or fuel pump will shut down
