Service Engine Light-transaxle temp circuit grounded

Having a problem (l think)with my 88 Chevy 1/2 ton auto /w-305.The service engine light went on.I used my code reader which said it could be the: EGR valve(changed that last yr) EGR valve diagnostic switch,or barometric pressure sensor failure.The truck runs fine though.Thanks for any help.

many times the check engine light comes on when the computer thinks that there is an increase in emissions even when it does not affect driveability. I refer to these as those pesky check engine lights. If the baro pressure sensor is cheap or if you can check its function I might start there, you can inspect the egr and see if it has carbon buildup and clean gently. If you can hook up to equipment that can read those sensor values that might help. good luck.
