Question 87 Pickup Won't crank

hello can abody help me please
i have an 87 chevy silverado pick-up
that has been acting up when i would go to crank it i had to keep turning the switch on and off and it would finally work
well that quit working last night ... the headlights come on the radio comes on but the dash lights dont and it won't make a nosie to crank
is it the ignition switch and it so how do i replace that
i also had someone tell me it might be the junction box
does anyone know a thing about that
i day the truck has some major electrical problems
please help it's my only way of going

Sounds like the ingnition switch to me. Fairly easy to change. It's mounted on top of the steering column under the dash just a few inches from the firewall. I don't know why it would keep the dash lights from coming on. That sounds like an entirely different problem. Hope this helps.

I agree. Although I thought the actual ingnition switsh on these older chevy was down on the steering column on the right side about where the column goes under the dash, i am about 50 percent on that, But for some reason it comes to mind. I may be wrong on that though. But I thought it was worth mentioning.
