k&n filter

I have just gotten a k&n filter for my 1998 chevy z71 5.7 engine can any one tell me if i have to oil it ..just wondering thank you .........pete

Yeap Pre oiled.. Hey, has anyone actually oiled it after cleanin? I've washed mine a few times with the hose, and it still does just fine

Yeh they are preoiled. You need to reoil it after properly cleaning the filter thr oil is what helps the filter work better and keeps the dirt from being imbeded into the filter so it can be cleaned and reused again and again

never messed with cool air intakes, didnt no u had to oil them... but to be with every1 else.... yup, pre-oiled

post cleaning

yea i have oiled mine after the washing, actually the whole kit seems like a crock, all the oil does or seems to do is turn the filter back to that k& purple. however i'm sure that the oil serves its purpose
