| I recently purchased and parted out a '79 1/2 ton. I know nothing about this truck, except that it was wheeled quite a lot.My question is about the engine. The block is painted black and the rocker covers say Goodwrench 350 on them. The engine had headers and a quadra-jet. The rear axle has a locker in it and I imagine it had some good sized tires on it, meaning, needed power to turn 'em. The code from the front of the block is mo527ivp, I guess the "o" could be a zero and the "i" could be a 1. Could anyone decode this for me? Is it a crate engine? How many pony's, etc. ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Upon further review and after reading the other engine ID thread in this forum I got the numbers from the back of the block. They are HECHOEN Mexico 10066036. There is also a number higher up toward the distributor hole 91 along with the production clocks or whatever they are. | We have been thru this before. We can identify it but we need the numbers from the block behind the drivers side head where the transmission bolt to the motor.

| Hey Chevyguy, the numbers you asked for are 10066036 and there is a number higher up toward the distrubutor hole, it is 91. I take it this block was cast in Mexico because of the Hecho En Mexico on top of the casting numbers you asked for. I also have old Motor manuals from the muscle car era that list the codes from the front of the block that will tell you what the engine is, hp, and what it came from, however, this engine code is too new and is , of course, not listed. Any input is greatly appreciated. It is kinda helpful to know the year and displacement. Thanx again. |
