Hey Guys, I own a 1991 Chevy K1500. Recently I was offroading in four wheel drive. When I went to take it out of four wheel drive (push the 4x4 stick forward) a clicking sound started from the left front tire as soon as I pushed the stick forward. The clicking sound gets louder the faster you drive. The truck still went completly out of four wheel drive, but the clicking continued. However, as soon as I pull the stick back to four wheel drive, the clicking immeadiatly stops, even before it goes all the way into four wheel drive. The clicking is really bad, and I only dare drive the truck in four wheel drive. I think it is something to do with my automatic locking hubs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Post or email: (scottphillips88@hotmail.com) Thanks, Scott

You must have the old auto locking front hubs correct?. If so the easiest or atleast the cheapest fix is to replace the auto locking hubs with a set of Warn manual locking hubs for less than 100.00 plus labor.

I am 42 years old and I have never heard any thing but bad about those old automatic locking hubs. Like the other person said, WARN manual locking hubs are the way to go. Back in the day, 77, 78, 79 you could expect to replace the old automatic lock outs two or three times during the life of a truck. Been there - Done that.
