| 1989 Silverado S2500 Tranny only works after 15 minute warmup??? I'm considering buying a 1989 Silverado with Automatic Tranny. It wouldn't move in any gear until it warmed up 15 minutes. All gears worked after that warm up time. The ATF was a bit on the low side but I don't think that the ATF level was the problem although I have no clue. Does anyone have any experience with this or have any suggestions? Thanks! |

| Plan on rebuilding the tranny if you do buy it. Depending on how low it was it could be a major issue as well.

| Tranny woes! Sounds like the tranny is full of sludge. Id start with a complete tranny flush and seal check, may an internal seal leak. Depending on the mileage, you might just want to dump the tranny and go with a remanufactured one. Stay away from rebuilts, unless you personally know the builder and trust him and his work or youll be replacing the tranny again in a year or two. Start out small and have a local shop pressure test your tranny and its seals. If its a seal problem then go ahead with the repair and make sure they clean out all of the old fluid and particals. Keep 'em rollin!!! |

| seals are probably hard, will need to be rebuilt. Some of the trany additives my the seals more pliable for awhile but its not a long term fix |

| I agree with gmtech. Just leaking back and unable to hold pressure
