| Horrible screeching sound when in 4x4 I think this sound is coming from the front driveshat.. Not the u-joints but inside the driveshat. I put it up on stands and engaged 4x4.. Indrive with the wheels spinning you hear a clanking sound,, very metalic sounding. If I apply just brakes softly so as to let the wheels just move, you hear what sounds like your killing a cat. It is just this screeching sound from ****. I got under it and listened and I think it is coming from inside the front driveshaft... Am I crazy? I didn't think there would be anything in a driveshaft that could make noise.. 1989 K2500.. Automatic.. 350.. new u-joints.. axles.. etc.. Last edited by skidxr; 12-12-2005 at 03:54 PM. |

| I'm not sure but i would suspect front differential. Try checking it with the truck up on stands while in neutral without the motor running. Try it in 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive. Rotate either front wheel and see if you are still gettin noise under both circumstances.
