88 2500 tranny question

I am replacing a 305 tbi with a 454 carbed bb. The truck has a 5 speed manual. How much hp and torque will this tranny handle? I don't plan on running the **** out of it but I will be towing a car trailer. What heavier duty tranny will bolt up easiest? I'd even be interested in an automatic if it didn't require a bunch of wiring or plumbing.

Should handle your load fine.Dont waste your money on upgrading .

Good enough, I've had people say, "you'll rip the gears right out of it." So I thought I better check. Now if I was doing the same to a Chevelle or Camaro and intended to race stoplight to stoplight maybe things would be different.
