Cool hi yall first time

I have a 89 chevy stepside scottsdale 2wd with 350. I have over 200000 on the motor and 100000 on trans. It smokes a little but strong and fast. I have a problem with my dash lights not working. When I cut my headlights on my guages move slightly to the left and when i turn my blinkers on my guages move. I had a guy tell me that he thinks my switch is bad. I am not a rich man , not now that this is my daily ride since i killed my metro, I wanted some other feedback. My truck has limited edition pin stripped on the side of the bed and it is factory not rednecked. I was wondering about it. I know I came to the right place for some feedback

It could be something loose in your steering column. It could even be something as simple as a ground wire.
If it was my truck, I would take a look in the column and under the dash to see if anything is loose.
My other thought, is it might be an alternater type issue. I sounds like when you draw power from the engine you see it in your gauges. What happends if you turn on your AC (if you have one)?
