| Starting Issue I have a 2000 Silverado 1500 5.3 61'000 miles, lately it can take up to 5 seconds to start if held continuosly. If I try to start it and let it roll over a few times stop then try again it will usually fire right up. I have ruled out the battery and starter since they are still doing their job. I thought possibly it could be something with fuel, a sensor or switch. If anyone has any knowledge please lend me some insight. |

| I did as you stated and it still delayed in starting. I turned it to run waited over five seconds and still the same issue. Immediately after I just attempted to start and it fired right up? I haven't noticed any particular pattern to it yet. I appreciate the help. |

| it could still be the battery. this cold weather will get em.... mine was actin the same way as your describing, i put a new battery in, and not one problem.... i'd sugest running up to an autoZone or sumthin and have them test the battery, just to make sure....

| To see if it is the battery, try jump starting it, if it was the battery then it would start right away. Also if it was the battery then it would probably sound like it is dieing when you try restarting it. My guess would be fuel related. Possibly your fuel pump is failing, maybe a clogged filter or even a bad tank of gas. I don't know much about Chevy's but with my mustang, when I turn the key to "On" without starting I can hear the fuel pump turn on for a brief second. Can you hear this? If so, try doing that a couple times, turn the car to "On" then back to off a few times, this should get the fuel started and the lines pressurized. Another thing, is it could be spark. Maybe a coil going bad, distributor issues. But I have my doubts on this because the car would most likely die or misfire. HOWEVER I will say when the drive shaft in my distributor came loose because of bering problems, I had starting issues only. I was able to see this when I pulled the distributor and was able to wiggle the whole bottom part.
