| 1997 C3500 headlight question Hi All, I just bought a 1997 C3500 Crew Cab Dually (454). When I turn the ignition on, the headlights come on, and stay on all the time. They go off if I put the parking break on. Does anyone know if there is a switch to turn them off, before I splice into the wiring and put in an extra switch in. I do not like driving around with headlights on all the time. Thanks. |

| Don't know how to stop them from coming on without applying the parking brake, but if you figure out how please let me know. I have a 1999 Chevy truck with lights on all the time and would love to find out how to shut them off also. Good luck. |

| headlites well hello, i see you have a canadian truck we call them daytime running lites and are on a lower power then your regular lites. when they are on you do not have your tail lite on so at night you still have to turn on your lites . in canada it is the law and it will be in the u.s.a. soon too you will get used to them ok ...............pete

| yeah, its not just canada... most US production cars 97 and after come with daytime running lites. its a good thing to have and i personally appreciate people who have them especially during sunrise/set. im pretty sure theres no shut off switch, though.

| Thay are a good idea, it is a proven fact that they make you more visable to other motorists. Thats why your insurance company gave you a little break for the year

| i know how to turn them off.... you just out ur parking break pedal about 1/4 to 1/2 the way down, there is a VERY faint click that you can feel. if you look on the dash while doing it, you will see the headlight indicator ( not to be confused with the bright light indicator) turn off, and the parking break indicator on..... this turns your 24/7 headlights off, and doesnt turn the parking brake on.... when you do it, make sure you've got the pedal down enough so it's not right on the border of on and off, or they may click back and forth..... just let me know if ya need a little more help

| I have a 1997 GMC c1500 with the same feature on my truck. It doesn't bother me to have my headlights on during the day. As long as people see me, I am happy. I don't know why you would want to turn them off. |

| Yeah, my truck was made before running lights, but i still drive around with my parking lights on all times of the day.... i know especially from driving around for work between 4-6 am a lot of people dont have lights on because the sun is rising, but it can be really hard to see them.... id suggest if you have daytime running lights not to disengage them

| I like when people drive with their headlights on in the morning even around 7 o'clock especially if my rear window is fogged up from the weather. I don't have anything to defrost it so the only way to tell if someone is back there is if they have their headlights on. |
