99 Chevy starting problem

Hey guys I need some help. I have 99 Z71 5.3 when the engine has set overnight it fires right up, after it warms up and is shut down you have to really crank it to get it started. When it idles it will surge once in a while dropping the rpms down to almost nothing acting like it wants to die. It will then rev up and come back to normal idle. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

Sounds like fuel pressure regulator leaking. Pull off the vacuum hose that goes to the regulator drivers side of engine middle on fuel rail and see if fuel comes out of the vaccum port. Try with it running and also try with it just sitting for awhile to see if any fuel comes out.
