Exclamation I need help Transmission ASAP

Okay I HAVE A 2001 SILVERADO Z-71 and went out to the hills to go shooting, I was going up a medium short hill it was kinda slick because there was about an inch of snow. Then all of a sudden it felt like my 4 wheel drive went out. I backed down and now when I put the truck in 2 wheel drive and from a stop the transmission does not seem to engage, no forward movement..., but if I put it in 1st or 2nd it will engage and go forward and once moving I can go to 3rd or drive, but as soon as I come to a stop or close I have to be in 2nd or 1st to go again....(reverse is still strong)Any advice would be helpful, what the specific problem might be etc. This sounds expensive to me.... Thanks so much

Alright, Well it was the transmission. Right now it is being Rebuilt. As far as my Transfer case and the 4x4 issues they say they can't really tell what is going on before the Trans is fixed. I will update what happens next. I guess at 120,000 Mi to have my transmission rebuild isn't too bad, hopefully it will go another 120,000 Mi.

Keep your service at correct intervals and keep good fluid in it. My dads finally gave out a week ago. He pulls a 28 foot travel trailer all over the US with it. The truck has 278,000 when it finally gave up the fight.
