Angry 2500 Hd 8.1l In Shop 11 Times In 4 Months

Wondering If Anyone Has Had A Similar Problem. 03 2500 Hd 4x4 With An 8.1l. Started Out With The Truck Dying Either Running Or Sitting In The Driveway. Dealer Messed With It For A Week And Said It Was A Transmision Sensor. This Went On And On And After A Couple More Trips, they Changed Out The Fuse Box,another Trip To Shop They Updated The Transmision Program, changed Out The Starter Celenoid, ignition System And Some Other Sensors.
Now Upon This Last Visit To The Dealer They Told Me It Was A Crankshaft Sensor. Here's Where It Gets Good. They Tried To Replace The Cranshaft Sensor And It Broke Of Falling Into The Crankcase. They Procede To Pull The Heads And Everything Else To Get The Tip Of This Sensor Out. When They Call The Warranty Company To Send Out An Adjuster He Says That I Have Voided My Warranty Because I Have A K&n Filter System On The Engine.
Now They Have Been Paying For All These Repairs So Far But Now They Say It Is A Void Warranty.
The Dealer Is Telling Me That I Also Need To Replace My Crankshaft, wich The Warranty Wont Cover Because Of The Filter System. The Dealer Didnt Have Authorization From The Warranty Company Or Me To Tear Into The Engine But To Only Change The Sensor, which As I Said They Broke Off.
There Saying That The Bearings Are Bad,and Crank Is Out Of Ballance. This Truck Has 62000 Miles On It,mostly Highway Traveling To Go Offshore In La. From Texas. Any One Have Similar Problems With Dealers Or Warranty????

Honestly, your truck has more problems than I could even start trying to help with. But there is good news. Many years (>10) ago there was a congressional act (Federal) that said the warranty on a vehicle CANNOT be voided for not using specific types of filters and regular maintenance products (filters, anti-freeze, oil, etc...) unless the company providing the warranty provides these parts free. Now if this is the case (and I doubt it) you must pay for covered repairs. The act I'm referring to (and name I can't remember) had mag (like magnun or magnusson) as part of the title. Anyway search the web or go to another dealer's service department and ask them (they will know what you're talking about) as it sounds like your dealer is in bed with your warranty company.

Good luck.

Well The Dealership Got A Call From The Corp. Office Of Gm And Someone There Had Seen This Post Other Than You. The Dealer Called Me Out Here Offshore And Said That The Service Manager Had Gotten A Phone Call And Was Told To Fix My Truck No Matter What It Took. Asked My Service Man At Bill Heard Chevy About It And He Was About To Fall Over Himself Trying To Make Me Happy.
So They Are Putting In A Factory Crankshaft, new Sensors And Covering All The Labor Costs. Anyway,i Guess Some Friends Of Mine Were Right About Posting This Cause There Must Be Someone Monitoring It. Thanks For The Advice Though And Am Gonna Find Out About That Law And See What The Deal Is. I Do Have Them Sending A Copy Of The Warranty To My House So I Can Go Over It. Well Thanks Again, Scott E. Henke

Found it. It is the Magnuson-Moss Act and was passed in 1975.

Take care.
