If you want a newer truck, get something with OBD II (96 and up) They're easier to find problems on. If you want to lift a truck cheap, go pre 1988 because those are cheap to lift and parts are abundant and cheap. Also when you lift, your gas mileage will take a dump. Not that it would really kill you though, since you're wanting to buy a truck. Just think where you'll be in a couple of years. Might be doing some more driving...who knows what gas will balloon to......

Kind of a loaded question. Dont let my opinion sway you one way or another. As for lifts if it is after 1988 then $1000,00 for 4 inches, Chevy and dodge are the same way. Old solid axle is the way to go for cheap lift, but the ride suffers, As for year yes anything after 1996 in vortec. aviod 1995 it was the year of the new interior with alot of electrical greamiln statistically speaking
