| 89 K2500 emissions Hey guys, I want to strip all of the emissions **** out of my 89 K2500. I am hoping that I can do this without interfering with the onboard computer. Has anyone done this before? I am told it should run better with it all removed. Is this true? I live in rural colorado and we have no regulations on smog equipment. Thanks for your input. |

| Nope. If you strip it off it will run real rich and fooul plugs. Other option is to remove the intake and go with a carbeurated intake and a carb. You will need a fuel pressure regulator as well. Then get an HEI ignitionn and bypass the whole thing.

| Thanks for the input. I notice that the O2 sensor is forward of my cat and the muffler. Does that make a difference? |

| I'm confused.. Typical newbie huh? I have been looking at exhaust systems on ebay. Nothing looks like a cat is included in the dual exhaust systems. I should clarify that I am talking about the cat when i say emissions. Other than that and a charcoal canister there is nothing else. |

| most aftermarket exhaust systems nowadays are a cat back system meaning behind the cat and back. Just my .02

| Yes, cat back. From behind the cat out to the bumper. To get that engine breathing you must do headers and duels all the way out. Long tube headers make the best performance with an x or h pipe. You can go further and thow the cats out and get o2 simulators. But I'm not sure what all is involved with your trucks computer system to do that. But all that depends on how much $ you want to spend on the extra hp or if you just want sound. |

| Dauls dont always equal better performance, especially with the o2 sensors bypassed. There are alot of cat back exhaust systems that boast a good horsepower gain without destroying the whole truck to get them on. I recommend a hi flow cat and a good cat back syatem weather it be dualed out after the cat or single, just get a good manufacturer or have it done by a performance exhaust shop

| I had duals on my 91' and I put manifolds on that had the 02 sensor in the manifold and eliminated the cat with 2 1/2" all the way back into flowmaster 40 series mufflers and never had any problems. Good performance without alot of money and never fouled plugs. |
