did you try checking your timing? the egr vavle on my blazer is located under the air cleaner behind the tbi. mines the older body style, so not sure if components are in the same place.

I'm interested to here the outcome of this story cause I have a 94 Blazer that does the same exact thing so I parked it and there she still sits. Got sick of holding up traffic when it up and felt like dying on me waiting for a green light on a busy street. only thing is though is I could never get a code to pop up. must of been a pooorly trained autozone guy. I do have the 4.6 outta my 94 k 1500 I should put in it but then I'd have to fool around with computer stuff. the blazer is a efi and my other is a tbi

There is no black smoke when restarted, it fires right back up. Havent checked the temperature sensor though (where is it???). Mine has the CPI engine (has the tuned port looking intake setup) so it is not the same as yours mudseeker. I wouldn't think that it would be the timing either, because it runs fine while driving until you either stop or it decides to take one of its retarded episodes. Even when it does act up ive never had it DIE on me, it seemed like it was about to though.

I checked the fuel filter yesterday and it was clean.....What does the EGR system do exactly? I've been wondering about that since I seen the code pop up. Would that make the engine choke down like that?.......Actually, my grandpa said that it seemed like it was flooding instead of choking. I did notice that the exaust smelled really funny almost like it was getting too much fuel......I dunno though. I anyone can then please let me know something.

I talked to a guy at the GM place here and he told me that the EGR valve IS electronic and it is located under the throttle body......he also told me that it was $220 which i didnt really wanna hear so I called carquest and they had one for $105 which is still a little steep for me but I guess im gonna try to replace that and see what happens......unless someone comes up with another idea before I come up with the money......

Well as for the big block idea...........i couldnt afford the gas for it, and for the fuel pump......it was replaced right before I bought the truck so i still dont know wtf is wrong with it. I had my uncle go and get an egr valve off of another truck like mine at a junkyard and mail it to me. It should be here sometime tomorrow. I really hope it works cause im tired of spendin money on fixing it, i would rather be makin it look better or go faster or both.

When you replaced the coil did you check your modular? I had this problem with my truck it would start up after a few turns and go fine for a little while then completely die. I don't know if that model has a modular but I pulled mine out and brought it to auto zone and they have a machine there that can test it to see if it bad. Hope this helps...
