1990 chevy tk stalls

Hello, i have a 1990 chevy tk with a 5.7 tbi, and it stalls the moment it is put into gear. Once it starts to warm up at idle and not in gear it will stumble and stall. the fuel pump, filter, lines are all new. the throttle body base gasket is new, all tune up related items such as plugs, wires , cap rotor are allnew. coil is ok, only thing i question is the computor, distributor, any ideas or suggestions

Sounds exactly like my husband's chevy. He had it back to the dealer, sent emails, etc. It just kept getting worse.

He finally traded it in never knowing what the problem was. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Check you idle air control motor. It may be sticking on start up. You can also try spraying a little carb cleaner down the passaage way for the IAC while it is running. If you replace it I recommend using one from AcDelco.

I would do a resistance check on your temp sensor. Bet it is out of limits. If it only does this after warming up I think that would be more than likely your problem. Idle Air Control would get a light.

Temp sensor could be part of the problem, but a sticking IAC won't always set a CEL.

Don't take me the wrong way we could both be wrong about the cause of the problem. But shouldn't just disregard a component just because there isn't a code set.

One more thing I forgot, check the grounds at the thermostat housing. Two common problems with these gounds. Heavy corrosion buildup from coolant leaking from the radiator hose. Or broken or missing gound connections. When the thermostat is changed sometimes the grounds ripped apart at the housing bolt because the nut work break free on the stud. We find a lot of times people don't take the time to repair and assure good connections when re-installing the housing. It can create a lot of intermittent drivability complaints.

I can always retrieve a light with an IAC discrep. Just my experience. Not saying your incorrect, as you seem to have alot of info to give here, Just saying i always get a check engine light with a code 35 when i find a bad IAC or related vacuum leak. However they are are easy to check so i recommend going ahead and checking them out.
