Useing/burning Radiator Fluid

I have a 1997 Chevy tahoe. Im adding radiator fluid about once every few weeks. Is this normal not!! I have been hereing that the 1995-2000 have a porblem with it burning it through the intakes. Can anyone tell me if this is true or what else could this be? Its not leaking anywhere as far as I can tell. Thanks Mike...

Probally the upper plenum leaking. They dont burn antifreeze. Check the oil for a milky appearance. Could be a head gasket. But probally the upper plenum gasket leaking

they dont burn antifreeze??? i've alwys heard that if your exhaust has a sweet smell it's burnin antifreeze. i know that year range, at least my families, have had quite a few problems with the water pumps goin bad. dad has a 96 silverado, has a crack in the side of the radiator, gone through a couple water pumps and just replaced the intake manifold. just figured i'd give ya some places to check

Isn't there some gasket on the motor that leaks/seeps anti freeze on these older 350s? I think it is pretty common to have to add maybe 15-20 oz every other service to keep the resivor full. My dad's and brother's '98 350s both have this thing. If it's what i'm thinkin it is, it doesn't get any worse. How much coolent are u using?

whenever antifreeze leaks or disapears i send up little red flags. No, its not normal for that to happen, my resevior hasnt gone down but a 1/2 an inch after coming across canada towing 6000 pounds. Maybe once every three or four months add a drop, but........ i have gone all summer non stop in my dads sub. It has almost 400 000 km on it now and its only starting to do away with antifreeze. Before that, we bought antifreeze when we did a flush or two and when we replaced the rad.

Yip its called the upped plenum gasket. As for burnig antifreeze, i meant like burnig oil. Antifreeeze just steams off in the exhaust.

Naw, I should have been more clear. Technically i guess it is burning, But the sense like burning oil is the way i was intending it to be read. It is a water based liquid so it doesnt burn, it steams off. Alot antifreeze in the exhaust makes alot of steam in the tail pipes. Not really smoke. Hope this helps a little
