transmission adjustment?????

I have a 93 C-20 van with a 4.3 engine, can't tell you what type transmission is in it, the problem I am having is when it shifts between 1st and 2nd, it shifts real hard, no other gear does this, is there an adjustment that can be made to correct this???
many thanks,
Frank aka crazyhorse357

How long since the fluid and filter was changed? How many gears, should be a 4l60e transmisssion if it is a 4 speed auto

No idea on the filter and fluid, just bought it about 2 weeks back, it doesn't appear to have been maintained very well.
and yes it is an OD tranny, 4 gears

This is not an adjustment issue. Talk to your local shop and have it diagnosed. Then you will know what needs to be done.
