Bad sensor?

I have a 97' chevy 1500 v46 automatic...the transmission completly went out a few weeks ago...the transmission shop tested and said it was something gone bad internally....they broke it down and found damaged/worn parts and replaced all of that and reinstalled. After installation the techinician said the truck was nocking not from the engine but the transmission.. after scanning the codes they said it was a bad Throttle position sensor..replaced and still didn't help, they said it was something bad in that circuit or the computer and the sent the truck to a shop that was "good" at electronics troubleshooting to find the problem. The shop manager said a bad throttle position sensor can burn up a transmission and they have to find the problem before they can give my truck back and warranty it. Could a bad throttle position sensor burn up a transmission? they say that is what caused it to go bad in the first place.

Thanks

Did you notice it shifting differently. Mine went out in my 97 . After a short warm up the trans would shift extremely hard in all gears.

Yes!!! i only had the truck a few weeks and it would shift very hard from 1st to 2nd it felt like somebody hit you in the back at 10mph...and sometimes going from park to drive it would lunge forward but it would not do it from park to reverse.

Yip , Thats the first sign of the throttle position sensor is bad. Should have replasced the little part and saved the trans. Hind sight being 20/20 of course. If the vehicle isnt performing correctly, good bet something has gone south.
