| 2wd to 4wd conversion Just would like a general idea what is needed to make a 2wd truck 4wd? I am wanting a winter project, and plan to make a 1987 c30 into a k30. Is the frame the same? Mounting holes there? etc? I know its a major deal, but I will have both down to the frame and axles only. Thanks |

| I take it the best route is to cut and weld the front frame section onto the 2wd frame? I am pretty good at welding, and have some decent years experience with both Mig and Arc welding. |

| cutting and welding the frame should be left to the pros, The frames are heat treated and welding them makes them weak where the heat was introduced. You can fishplate to make the wwleded area stronger, but you only make the weak area larger by adding heat with the welder. It is something that can be done, but I think converting your existing frame would be better bet.

| yeah, I dont really feel confident welding frame sections on a commercial purpose truck. Around here finding a 4x4 crew cab 73-87 is like pulling teeth, but I can find a k30 reg cab, and a c30 crew cab. |

| Take a close look at the frame of each of them . I think there is quite a bit of difference between the 2wd and the 4wd frame.
