True Duals question

I have a 1992 Ext Cab Silverado TBI, 5.7 and auto trans. I currently have a single exhaust system with a 40series Flowmaster on it. I want a little more aggressive sound and was thinking about going to a true duals setup, two 40 from flowmaster and two high flow Cats and I live in California. Does anyone know if i'll have any smog issues going to a setup i described above.

on my 94 k1500 4x4 I welded my own pipes together on the driver side with bends in them to go around the outside of my front axle and then a bend to go straight along the front of the tranny crossmember (support) to the other side and ran both pipes down the passenger side. works really good for me.

Have you considered cheater duals. Branches off after the cat or uses a single inlet muffler with dual outlets. Allows the look and sound of dual exhaust, without the hassel for messing with emmissions and suck. There are alot of syatems that boast better torque or horsepower than true duals. might be worth looking.

Actually i have thought about the "cheater duals" and i'm probably going to go with that. I'm also gonna have the exhaust redone with 3inch pipes and shortie headers. Thanks for all the feedback.

hey CG this will help both of us, we both want agressive sound and are running same generation engines i beleive just different sizes, but what length resotubes will compliment the 40 series mufler, ir is there a better muffler to get, and how does dropping the cat alter what mufler to get?

I like shorty headers with mid sized primaries. Gives hp and torque . I would not driop the cat for emmission purposes, but if you really want to them thay make a high flow cat. I like the dual chambered flowmasters. Gives a good rumble without being abnoxious. Just my opinion on the matter for what very little it is worth.

well i am in an area that does not test emissions and my old man had an MG a while back and he said when he pulled the cat off of it the mileage went up and the car moved faster....... so that was my thought there.....but thanks for the flowmaster advice
