Exclamation replacing AC Compressor

I have a 2001 Chevy 2500 with the 6 liter engine and want to replace the compressor, acumulator and orifice, have never done this recharged the system one time but I need some help in directions to replace these three items and any other helpful advice so I do it correctly.

Thanks Chris

make positively sure that you put a backup wrench on those accumulator lines as if you just bust them off, you will mess up something that you dont want to change out. same thing on the connections next to your condensor where i believe the orifice tube is located. Also, EVACUATE the system before you put a stitch of refrigerant into the system.
why are you changing these parts out, anyway??

that is really odd that it has locked up after such a short period. usually a compressor will lock up when it runs low on refrigerant but the low pressure switch that you have is designed to prevent such occurances from happening. if you have already added freon to your system, it would be wise to check for leaks before diving off to far into this. you might be investing in a new low side or high side line (if your lucky).

Well your probally gonna have a real hard time getting the freon and such without an IMACA license for work on air conditioning. If you have access then make sure you reclaim the refrigerant before you dump it into the atmosphere. Then after cahnging the components draw a vacuum and see if it holds for 30 min, If so then cahrge it. You will have to know how nuch oil and what type goes in the system and you havve to account for the oil you remove with the compressor and in the freon itself.

for 134a, he will not require a liscence. you only need a type 1 for 12 and 22 and other non 400 series freons. a type 2, 3, 4 or universal is needed to purchase all 400 series refrigerants.
ask the parts man how much oil will have to be added to your system. i believe its called PAG 103.

chevy, is there a set time for pulling a vacuum?? i have always went by the pull for 45 and set for 30.

You said there's a warranty. Why not take it in to have it done professionally
