A/C Noise - 2001 Chevy Tahoe

Just the other day I started noticing a weird noise coming from the engine compartment and realized it only made this noise when the AC was on. Two days later my AC belt broke. I replaced both the serpentine belt and the AC belt but the noise was still there. I tried using belt dressing and that did not work. I replaced the tension pulley on the AC belt and that did not work either. The car only makes the noise when the AC is on and the car is accelerating/moving. When the car is moving and making this strange vibrating sound, if you turn the AC off it will stop. At idle, the noise is not there. The AC seems to work fine and blows cold air at all times. Could this possibly be the AC clutch or compressor? Please help.

Yes it is the compressor have had quite a few with this problem and at about 1500-2000 rpms the compressor tries locking up and the belt and tensioner jump severely

okay, thanks....Is there anyway to silence the compressor temporary? I am about to trade in the tahoe and do not really want to spend the money to fix it, if at all possible.

No way to silence it unless you just unplug it or remove the fuse for it.
