5.3 vs duramax

What are the advantages to diesel vs gas that aren't towing related, can you really see a difference in mileage and durability, 100k even 200k is very reasonable out of the 5.3, not to mention that the mileage is going to be 15mpg+ regardless of city or highway?? I love the duramax with alison combo but without the need for towing large trailers i am having trouble making a rational arguement to myself. thoughts?

For a daily driver gas is cheaper to maintain, but diesels will last longer if cared for properly.

it seems nowadays that the diesel engines are getting just as good a mileage as the gas engines. i can count lots of people that get 16 and 17 in their diesels.

I love my diesel, I will always have one from here on out. The power will get you addicted. For a diesel to get more power is much more cheaper than gas. I bought a edge juice/attitude that gave it 120 more HP. To get 120 HP more from a gas engine takes lots of time, parts, and $$$
