| ok i have a 1989 chevy k1500 with the 5.7 anyway my fuel pump died therefor i had it replaced since then the fuel gauge hasent worked it has overnight slightly moved but after a few minutes of driving it goes back down? whats messed up my mechanis said it could be the furel gauge sender unit, but i cant find one in my repair manuals is it the fuel pump sender unit? im confused please help! |

| When I replaced mine I accidentally bent the fuel sender arm and it did the same thing. I had to drop the tank again and bend it back and make sure it slid in the baffle area without hitting the sides. hope this helps |

| yes it is part of the fuel sending unit and you need to drop the tank and make sure it is sitting right like waldoze said. |

| This is why I remove the bed instead of dropping the tank. Makes getting all this back together without damaging anything pretty easy.

| I changed mine this weekend and bent and broke off the little clip that hold the float,had to tie wire it till the new sender gets here, but as of now the gauge is on the money |

| Yeah the wire should hold that's what happened to mine one time I dropped the tank and it hasn't missed a beat yet. |
