 | Gas pedal sticking closed I own both a '99 Silverado and an '01 Impala. On both vehicles the gas pedal gets stuck slightly in the closed position. It is not pedal or cable related, but seems to be the butterfly in the throtle body. You have to lightly tap it loose, or keep applying pressure until it snaps open. This makes it hard to take-off easy by causing the vehicles to lurch forward when it finally snaps open. Anyone know a cure? bodean |

| This is a common problem that started with the '99 pickups. Remove the rubber boot from between the air cleaner assembly and the intake. You will see what amounts to a bunch of black sticky crud between the butterfly and the throttle body. Clean this up really well with some sort of penetrating oil and a rag. You really have to get in there. There will be crud on the butterfly itself and the throttle body. Especially where the butterfly and throttle body meet when closed. Also lubricate the rod for the butterfly where it goes through the throttle body. This has happened to me on with both of my '01 GMC pickups. You can't really cure it, so you will be doing it about once a year. But if you take your time and clean that whole area well, I know it will work. |

| GM for life beat me to it. Your vehicles should also have better idle characteristics after the cleaning also. |
